How much deposit would I need for a buy to let property?
This will be dependent on the rental income the property can achieve. There are lenders that will accept deposits as low as 15% and 20% but in order to achieve more favourable rates then you will need a deposit of least 25%
Can I have more than one buy to let mortgage?
Yes! There are no limits as to how many Buy to Let mortgages you can have. For a seasoned investor owning 4 properties or more will be underwritten slightly differently, however, our specialists will ensure the most appropriate products are recommended.
What are the tax implications of a buy to let mortgage?
Tax legislation on Buy to Let’s has changed in recent years with a higher rate of Stamp Duty payable as well as the reduction of mortgage interest that can be offset against the rental income for the assessment of profit. We always recommend that our clients discuss their current and future plans in respect of Buy to Lets with a fully qualified accountant to ensure they are aware of the implications.
