Life Insurance

Life insurance is – understandably – something many people simply don’t want to think about.

However, securing the right cover will not only bring peace of mind now, it will also mean your loved ones are taken care of in the event of your death.

We know it’s not the nicest of subjects.  But a tax-free lump sum or monthly payment could help to ensure that your loved ones aren’t left in financial difficulty, particularly during a time of emotional strain.

Our friendly team of advisors will work with you, using their expertise to find a life insurance policy that best suits your circumstances, cover requirements, and budget.

\

What level of cover do I need?

As a starting point, we advise setting a minimum target of ten times your annual salary but if affordable would suggest fifteen to twenty times your income.

\

What age should I consider life insurance?

We advise taking out cover as soon as possible suggesting singletons should also consider a policy to ensure all costs are covered in the event of their death.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to have a medical exam to qualify for life insurance?

In most cases you won’t need a medical exam. When applying for life insurance the applications covers aspects of your medical history and lifestyle. The answers to the questions will determine whether the provider will wish to ask for any further information, including asking for a GP report or carrying out a medical examination. Should this be the case it is imperative that you are covered correctly on the applicable terms so that any claim is paid. In the event that further information is required any cost is covered by the provider.

Is life insurance required for me to complete my mortgage application?

It is not a compulsory requirement. We have a duty of care to and an FCA obligation to assess our clients’ protection shortfalls. Therefore, we will make suitable recommendations after discussing your current situation, discussing the shortfall and your available budget. It is essential that you are aware of the financial implications in the event of death to the surviving party or the effects of being diagnosed with a serious illness.

How much can I cover myself for?

This will depend on your individual situation. It is always best to discuss your options with one of our insurance specialists.

Would anything stop me from having my life insurance application approved?

When applying for life insurance the application covers aspects of your medical history and lifestyle. The answers to the questions will determine whether the provider will wish to ask for any further information, including asking for a GP report or carrying out a medical examination. When the information has been made available to the insurance provider they will make a decision as to whether you are able to covered or any special terms applied.
