How does mortgage protection work?

Mortgage protection is designed to repay your mortgage in full in the event of death which will allow either the surviving party to continue living at the property and be in ownership of the property to help provide financial security. The cover is structured by covering the total borrowing including any lenders arrangement fees added to the mortgage along with the proposed mortgage term. The cover reduces in line with the outstanding mortgage balance. There is an option to include critical illness coverage within the policy at an extra cost which will also allow the mortgage to be repaid in full in the event of a diagnosis of a debilitating illness such as cancer, heart attack, stroke etc.  The last thing anybody wants to think about should you be diagnosed with such a condition is how am I going to pay the mortgage and with this stress taken away you can focus on the most important thing of getting better.
